Middle class American men have a long history of sending for so-called mail order brides to provide wives for rural areas, mining camps, soldiers, and factory laborers. Times have changed.
Russian mail order wives are now a step up or marrying up for even the best educated and wealthiest of Americans. The Internet has simplified the process of winning a woman who is younger, taller, prettier, smarter, sexier, and better-educated than one would be able to charm at home.
The Web lets anyone search through hundreds of thousands of possible mates in seconds - no matter wherever she is in the world.
While I consider this is the golden era of email order brides - and not a means for nerdy or cruel adult males to exploit impoverished or docile females - I think the window will be closing inside 5 to 10 years.
Here's why:
1. Oil
Governments hide the ball when it comes to oil reserves, peak oil, and future prices for gasoline. We don't determing how high costs will go.
Electrical energy would be able to be produced for your residence or electric vehicle from photo voltaic, wind, or geothermal resources, but jets need gasoline. Lots of it.
If oil prices triple or more, which is a distinct possibility, worldwide travel will turn out to be prohibitedly steep for the average man.
2. IMBRA
The International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005 (IMBRA) calls for background checks on American men looking to file immigrant or fiancee visa petitions for foreign women - if they initiated contact through a marriage agency.
Marriage agencies with over 50% U.S. clients are exempt from IMBRA.
An International Marriage Broker (IMB) is an entity - U.S. or foreign based - that offers matchmaking or social referrals connecting U.S. citizens/permanent residents and foreign nationals for a fee.
Passed in the wake of the Anastasia King murder allegedly to protect foreign brides, all it does is prevent American men from petitioning the foreign fiancee of choice.
IMBs Must:
- search U.S. sex offender public registries for information on the American petitioner
- collect criminal and marital background information on the American client, including how prior marriages ended
- supply this information to the foreign woman in her native language
- provide foreign fiancees with a government produced pamphlet describing her legal rights in the United States
- obtain the foreign client's written permission to give her personal information to the U.S. client
- limit of 2 fiance(e) visa petitions with at least 2 years between filings
All of these restrictions apply to IMB prearranged matches, so there are numerous ways around the law.
Just don't assume this will be the final piece of insane legislation to restrict freedom of American citizens.
Anastasia King is not the only bride to fall victim to an abusive and sinister spouse. If this is so important for foreign brides, why not make a law that applies to all women?
Unless you take measures to shield yourself, as an American man looking for a mail order bride, your efforts to bring in a foreign bride can be hindered.
No state investigates American men for disclosure to American women prior to issuance of a marriage license. And then there is that pesky Constitution (what's still enforced).
Good intentions make terrible laws. And I'm not even confident of the good intentions in the case of IMBRA.
If the courts uphold same-sex marriage, expect spousal and fiance(e) petitions to be restricted further.
Find your Russian, Colombian, or Filipina mail order wife before it becomes an hopeless ordeal.
3. American Men Are Still Valued Abroad
For thousands of foreign women, American husbands are still considered a superior catch and a desirable match. Go figure.
I'm not sure if I am thrilled or frightened.
For whatever reason, thousands of foreign women regard American men as first-class husband material.
After a divorce, the Web lets a man meet a strikingly beautiful woman of the correct age, profession, and education prior to initiating contact.
My recommendations:
For more youthful men, females from Russia, the Ukraine, and the former Soviet Republics, are the sexiest and most beautiful females on the planet.
Only contact women who meet all of your superficial requirements - age, beauty, education. You must meet in person to see if the chemistry is there and if love develops.
Caveat - keep an eye on the age differences. For Russian women, 10 to 15 years younger will work fine. Larger age contrasts will feed your ego but may possibly trigger problems down the road.
For older or more traditional men, nothing beats the Philippines. Filipinas are the most devout, family oriented females I have ever lived among.
Young brides are not much of a problem in the Philippines. As a rule, Filipinas stay married until the husband throws her out. While a Vice-Consul in Manila, I have approved visas for wives 50+ years younger than their American husbands.
For men who have pensions or Social Security, I would mull over retiring in the Philippines with a young wife. Immigration goes both directions. And a "fixed income" in the P.I. is a beautiful thing.
Golden Age:
I believe the window for finding your mail order wife could close within 5 to 10 years. Take action before costs and added government regulations further limit your freedom.
You will by no means have a higher position in the minds of foreign brides to be.
Women of such beauty and grace may not be available to American men as the world economy disintegrates.
You have never been more able to find and make contact with the right woman for you without all of the societal and cultural restrictions of the past.
Before governments and busybodies once again interfere in the course of love, marriage, and family, grab your wonderful mail order wife.
Dating, romance, and marriage will be changed forever.
You can begin your hunt for the perfect bride on Russian Mail Order Wife.
